Dear Lucy: An Advice Column

Written by: JOSEPHINE EMBRY

We’re excited to announce the launch of a new regular feature at The Utah Bee. “Dear Lucy” is an advice column on topics regarding consent, ethics and etiquette in psychedelic spaces. As the use of psychedelics for personal growth, spiritual exploration and therapeutic purposes becomes more mainstream it’s becoming increasingly important to advocate for the creation of safe and respectful environments for all participants.

Whether you’re a facilitator, a seasoned psychonaut or new to the psychedelic world, understanding consent and appropriate boundaries can make all the difference in the quality of your experience and the experiences of those around you. In this column we’ll explore topics such as how to establish boundaries, communicate effectively and navigate complex situations that may arise in psychedelic spaces.

Need some advice on vetting a psychedelic practitioner? Did you trip with a partner or friend and things got a little weird? Have you had an experience that you would like to unpack? We’re here to offer communal wisdom and a nuanced perspective. Our goal is to provide you with practical and insightful advice that will help you enhance your psychedelic experiences and to promote a culture of respect and consent in these spaces. So, let's dive in!
