Salt Lake’s Brand New Pop-Up Is Christmas-Themed And So Jolly

by MADELINE FERGUSON

Are you ready for a perfectly-cheesy holiday night out? If so, Acme, a new Christmas pop-up bar experience in Salt Lake is the place for you.

Located in the Sugar House neighborhood where Campfire Lounge used to be, you’ll find this holly jolly little bar on 2100 South and 837 East.

“Brought to you by the twisted, messed up minds of Water Witch and Island Time SLC! A magical land of holiday joy, featuring amazing cocktails and spirits, bar snacks in a vibrant, unforgettable, cozy winter wonderland,” the website describes the bar.

The bar is decorated from top to bottom with tinsel, lights and ornaments on trees. But don’t worry, you won’t have to only listen to Christmas carols for hours, they play a variety of great tunes. This spot has such a cozy vibe, perfect for a winter warm-up.

Now, the most important part: The drinks.

WOW. They hit it out of the park with a luxury, holiday-tasting drink menu. They use great ingredients and while the drink menu is small there is plenty of variety so you are sure to find something you’ll love.

From rum concoctions that make you feel like you are spending Christmas on the beach to hot drinks that warm you up, the menu has it all. Here are a few of my favorites.

  • The Yule Grog - aquavit, gin, lemon, orgeat, passion fruit, allspice

  • Curandera - mezcal, ginger, lime, honey, almond

  • Le Baptiste (served hot) - rye, black tea, spice, lemon

You can find the full menu here. After trying four of the seven specialty cocktails, I can pretty much guarantee anything on the menu will be amazing. The ingredient pairings are so well thought out and perfectly in sync.

Hungry? You can also grab a bite to eat. The food, while not listed online, is similar to the food Campfire used to serve. I am sure you’ve heard of the famous Tot-chos, which are nachos, but instead of chips, they are made with tater-tots. If you haven’t tried them, you need to.

The seasonal experience at this Sugar House is called Acme, but it is put on by the owners of Water Witch, one of the best cocktail bars in Salt Lake City. According to the website, the seasonal experiences will continue for a few months until they close in the Spring of 2023 for a full renovation, bringing something brand new to the neighborhood.

For now, the Christmas bar experience is open Thursday through Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to close.

Happy Holidays! Go enjoy a cocktail, you deserve it.
