Utah’s Fall Beer Festivals

by MADELINE FERGUSON

It may not feel like autumn outside and the first day of Fall is technically September 22, but when the calendar flips from August to September the Fall activities start to become very appealing… like beer festivals!

Utah is home to some great beer festivals. You’ve got the big Oktoberfest at Snowbird but also some smaller, lesser-known festivals that are a great way to spend a weekend.

We will give you all the details you need to get out there and enjoy some local craft beers.

Oktoberfest At Snowbird

The big one. Chances are if you’ve lived in Salt Lake City for a while you’ve heard of or been to Snowbird’s Oktoberfest, it is pretty much a Utah classic. They offer a great selection of beer, fun live music and decent food options you’d normally find at an Oktoberfest like sausages, sauerkraut and bavarian pretzels.

Oktoberfest at Snowbird runs on weekends from August 13 to October 16. Things kick off at Noon and wrap up at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, but you’ll have to pay $10 for parking.

Snowbird Oktoberfest is probably the best if you want to take little ones. They have all of the summer activities like the alpine slide and ropes course open during the festival.

SnowWiesn at Snowbasin

Similar to Snowbird, but way more laid back is Snowbasin’s fall beer festival called SnowWiesn. It’s a little less busy and bonus, it’s dog friendly. It features Bavarian food, craft beer, live music, a local market and fun activities. The festival happens every Sunday in September from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parking is free but tickets are $10. If you are a Snowbasin pass holder, that counts as your ticket. Find a list of activities and a live music schedule here.

4th West Oktoberfest

4th West Oktoberfest is put on by Mountain West Hard Cider. In its seventh year running, the festival takes place Saturday, October 1 from Noon to 10:00 p.m. at Mountain West Hard Cider located at 425 N 400 W in Salt Lake City.

This is a 21+ event featuring games, local brews, cocktails, food trucks and live music. For more information, check out the event listing here.

Brat-ober Fest by Squatter Brewery

A version of an Oktoberfest hosted by a local craft brewery has to go be good, right?

Every Wednesday from September 14 to October 19 head to the downtown Squatters on 174 W Broadway for cheap, locally sourced Brats, Sauerkraut and a delicious brew.

Make sure to grab a Squatters Pumpkin Ale, it is delicious and a great sweet treat to follow your traditional German meal.

Happy beer drinking! Be safe out there.
