Laziz Kitchen opened its doors one year ago and invites you to celebrate its first anniversary. Laziz Kitchen offers Lebanese food with a funky vibe. The space is cozy and comfortable, and the food is delicious. Dipping fresh-baked pita into creamy hummus is a delight. The daily stew is a hearty home run every time. Each bite from the menu is infused with herbs and flavor.

Moudi Sbeity and Derek Kitchen created and own Laziz Kitchen. They employ a wait staff that is knowledgeable, helpful, attentive, and kind. It’s like a meal with friends! A favorite on Yelp, Laziz Kitchen brings in newcomers who join a growing cast of regulars.

Laziz Kitchen is the second project of Moudi Sbeity and Derek Kitchen. The first is Laziz Food, founded four years earlier. Laziz Food makes and markets Mediterranean spreads like hummus, muhammara, and toum in local grocery stores and farmers markets. Derek manages Laziz Food, while Moudi manages Laziz Kitchen. By the way--because you’ll want to--items can be ordered off the Laziz Kitchen menu and taken home with you.

Moudi and Derek want to give back to the community, by providing a space for fabulous food and good conversation. A former refugee himself, Moudi hires and trains recent refugees to Utah. Moudi says, “These are very persistent women. They don’t stop. They are very dedicated to improving their lives. They’ve come from such turbulent times, and I think that history makes them harder workers.”

Moudi and Derek work to do good, build up, and feed all. You see it in the way they greet diners, the way they manage their businesses, and in the way they live their lives. You savor it in each taste from Laziz Kitchen. Salt Lake City is lucky to add Laziz Kitchen to its list of great restaurants. And Utah is a better place since it opened its doors. Come for dinner, and make sure to congratulate Moudi and Derek for an outstanding first year!
